Why Do Good?

The University of Maryland has committed to a year-long effort to engage students and encourage the community to Do Good. The projects and ventures that have been created as a result of this challenge are innovative, philanthropic and truly amazing. UMD students are exceptionally intelligent and creative entrepreneurs!

But, we should remember that doing good can be as simple as what you do day-to-day. Even small actions can spark big change. For this reason, as our team planned to bring The Campaign to Change Direction to our campus, we also decided to become Do Good Challenge competitors.

The Campaign to Change Direction is a group of important organizations and concerned citizens that care strongly for mental health education, awareness and advocacy. Additionally, it is an awareness effort; an effort to promote knowing what bad mental health can look like and what you should do when you see it. So it’s really about being there: for a family member, friend or any loved one.

Change Direction UMD is for everyone, because everyone has bad mental health days and could benefit from a friend’s help. So know the signs, so you can make a change.
